On 13 May 2022, Christiane Wendehorst (ELI Project Reporter) was invited to speak in Session 1 on ‘opportunities and risks of data openness’ together with Pam Dixon (Executive Director, World Privacy Forum) and Emily Daemen (Geonovum). The ALI-ELI Principles for a Data Economy were one of the topics addressed in the discussion led by Barbara Ubaldi (OECD). As explained by Christiane Wendehorst, the Principles strike a balance between protection on the one hand and openness on the other hand. The approach taken by the ALI-ELI Principles for a Data Economy can be an inspiration for legislative initiatives and actors in the data economy worldwide.
The webinar was organised by the OECD in the course of its ’Going Digital’ project. The project was launched in 2017 and aims to support national and regional policy-makers in the digital transformation.
